Hair wax is not the same as hair gel or hair pomade. They all are used to style your hair but they are made with significantly different ingredients and should not be treated the same.

What to expect when buying non-water base hairstyling wax?

First, expect it to be hard. If you never used one, you may think that something is wrong and you got a wrong product. I bet you it’s the right one and you will never go back to synthetic gels and pomades again.

Good Bloke Hair Wax is made with vegan wax (not a beeswax), butters and oils. It juices up your hair with essential nutrients to keep them healthy and color-rich. In order to apply our it you need to warm it up in your hands first. Here how you do it:

• Scrape off the amount of hair wax you need using your thumbnail. You’ll be warming the wax up as you do so, take your time as some blends are harder than others.
• Once the right amount is collected, pick it up with the tips of your finger.

• Evenly spread the wax between the tips of your fingers and have it ready to apply.
• Run you hands between your hair in a direction of styling. Depending on your hair type and the desired look, work the wax into your hair until you feel like all wax was applied.

Second, expect it to be different. Apply less when you use it the first time. You need to learn your hair. It may feel greasy in the beginning as you still feel butters and oils on your hair. Your hair will absorb them and the wax will stay on holding the style. Also, the wax will harden as it gets colder.

Depending on the hair wax blend you may get slight to no shine of your hair. Our Good Bloke Original Hair Wax has a clay in a mixture. Clay is known as a matte agent that prevents shininess. On the other side, our Good Bloke Pine Tar Wax has a tar in its formula that would add some shine. It should not be compared to a pomade type of ‘sleek look’ of glossy hair, but it will be glossier if compared to the Original blend.
